About Albumbox

Albumbox is an app that digitizes photo albums with your phone. You photograph a whole album page, the app finds each photo on it and saves it as its own file. Albumbox is developed by PL Core GmbH, a company founded by Philipp Längle. The German edition of the app is called Fotokiste.

Why Albumbox exists

Many homes have a box of albums covering forty years, and the person who still knows who is in the pictures is not getting younger. The existing apps either ask you to photograph each print one by one, or they only let you take your photos out again after a subscription. Albumbox is meant to do both differently: whole pages at once, and a price that is printed on the pricing page. Scanning and viewing cost nothing; what Plus costs is on the pricing page, as of October 2026.

How the articles in our guides are written

The articles are written by the Albumbox team under a few fixed rules:

  • Prices and features of other apps and services appear only with a date and a source (App Store, Google Play, the provider's website). We do not give grades or rankings.
  • Comparisons rest on verifiable properties: price, subscription yes or no, platform, album page detection, export options, date of the last update.
  • Where we test something ourselves, the setup is described in the article and the images show real results.
  • Every article is read and approved by a person before it goes live. Comparison and price articles are rechecked every three months; the date is in the text.
  • We make one of the apps being compared. Every comparison article says so.

If you find a mistake, write to us. We correct it and note the change with a date.
